Mondi introduces a 100% recyclable polyethylene plastic bag

Mondi plans to launch a brand new 100% recyclable patented plastic bag with removable decorative panels in 2019 after four years.

Mondi is an international packaging product group that employs about 26000 people in production facilities in 31 countries around the world. Mondi group has an annual revenue of 6.5 billion euros and a return on capital occupied of 15.3%. The group's major bases are in Central Europe, Russia, the Americas, and South Africa.

The packaging will be used to package flossian products to replace the traditional flexible plastic bags and replace some defective recycling processes. With regard to the design of a perfect recyclable bag, the head of packaging development, Warner and Metz group explained, "if you want to avoid the situation of garbage in and out, the whole value chain must be consistent - from packaging manufacturers to participants in sorting and recycling, purchasing and using recycled materials uniformly.

According to Mondi, the bag is dressed in a striking coat with a brand design on the front and consumer information on the back. When the bag is empty, it is automatically crushed and classified into two parts into an independent recycling process.

Plastic bag material does not contain glue or adhesive. The nozzles and covers are also made of polyethylene, indicating that the recycled material is equivalent in quality to the raw material.

"Working with us will show in the best way how to reach a solution," said the technical service manager of Mondi consumer packaging. We try to innovate - test different materials until we get a recycling design concept that convinces every point in the value chain. In addition, the concept product provides a significant increase in seal strength related to maximum fill.
